The President of the World Bank Group, the largest and most famous development bank in the world, David Malpass, sent a message of congratulations to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for his re-election for another five-year term.

In the letter, David Malpass highlights that the World Bank Group appreciates the long partnership relationship with Angola, which dates back to 1991, and stresses that they are committed to supporting the Angolan Government’s efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive development for the country.
“On behalf of the World Bank Group, please accept my warm congratulations on your re-election and investiture as President of the Republic of Angola. I send my best wishes to you, the Government and People of Angola. I wish you every success in the continuity of the mandate”, reads the message. The World Bank Group is a family of five international organizations that make leveraged loans to developing countries. It is the largest and most famous development bank in the world and is an observer for the United Nations Development Group.
It is composed of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD or BIRD), International Development Association (IDA or IDA), International Finance Corporation (IFC or SFI), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA or AMGI), and the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID or CIRDI).
