Head of State encourages advisers to contribute their best to face the challenges of the functions

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, encouraged, Wednesday (21), in Luanda, the members of the Council of the Republic to contribute with their best so that they can act wisely in the face of the challenges to be faced in the exercise of their functions.

The President of the Republic, who was addressing the councilors, both new and old, minutes after swearing in their functions, in a ceremony held in the Noble Hall of the Presidential Palace, said that it is the will of all Angolans to build an Angola that is increasingly democratic, prosperous, that brings well-being to its citizens and that guarantees the economic and social development of the country.

“As good patriots that they are, I believe that I can count on and expect the best advice from you, so that I can carry out my duties with zeal”, he stressed.

After the constitution of the Executive and the appointment of provincial governors, the President of the Republic stressed that the time has now come to also appoint the Angolan citizens who will integrate, as of today, the Council of the Republic.

The Vice President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz, Vice President of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, the presidents political parties with seats in parliament, namely UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, FNLA, Nimi a Simbi, PRS, Benedito Daniel, and PHA, Florbela Malaquias.

The following citizens appointed by the President of the Republic also took office: Adriano Botelho de Vasconcelos, Alfeo Vinevala, António Cabamba, the secretary general of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), Deolinda Dorcas Teca, environmentalist Fernanda Renée, the former -Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Francisco Queiroz, journalist Ismael Mateus, Jorge Valentim, José Carlos Cunha, Luís Nguimbi, Manuel Monteiro, Paula Simons, Rosa Cruz e Silva, Suzana Mendes and religious leader Suzete João.

The Council of the Republic is a collegiate consultative body of the Head of State, which includes the Vice-President of the Republic, the presidents of the National Assembly, political parties with parliamentary seats, the Attorney General of the Republic and the Vice-President of the Republic. MPLA, among other figures.
