Twelve people died and 17 were injured as a result of a road accident that occurred late yesterday afternoon, in Morro do Pinto, Estrada Nacional 250, which connects Huambo to Lobito, in Benguela.

Of the victims of the accident, which took place 18 kilometers north of Lobito, some were rescued in one of the health units in the municipality and others were taken to the General Hospital of Benguela.
Of the 12 victims who were admitted to the General Hospital of Benguela, one arrived already in the condition of a corpse and another died moments later. In an interview with Televisão Pública de Angola, the doctor working at the Emergency Bank of the General Hospital of Benguela, Ilídio Agostinho, assured that the other victims remain under observation.
He recalled that among the victims, four could be sent to the block because they were in a serious condition. “Because they have major orthopedic injuries, they need urgent intervention,” she said.
The doctor confirmed that another four patients could be discharged in subsequent hours. “The other patients will continue under observation,” said Elísio Agostinho.
Dilma Camilo, a relative of one of the victims of the accident, regretted the tragic event. “I have just received the news of the death of a nephew as a result of this accident. It is really sad,” she said.
