The city of Cabinda hosts, today and tomorrow, the VII National Conference of Lawyers of Angola, to reflect on the challenges of the profession in the face of the current socio-economic context that the country and the world are experiencing, as well as to evaluate the role of the lawyer in the formation of conscience and the process that guarantees the citizen’s access to justice services.

Participants will discuss in detail the economic perspectives of the Angolan Securities Debt Exchange (BODIVA) and the Capital Markets Commission, the economic and sociological perspectives of the Institute for State Asset Management and Participation (IGAPE), as well as the legal-administrative and financial perspectives of privatization and public contraction and the work carried out by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) concerning the prevention and fight against corruption.
In an interview with Jornal de Angola, the provincial president of Cabinda of the Angolan Bar Association, José Vuluquizi, expects the participation of around 400 delegates, including lawyers and guests, with emphasis on the presidents of the Bar Associations of African Speaking Countries Portuguese Official (PALOP), from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), from Portugal and Brazil.
On the sidelines of the Conference, José Vuluquizi said, the participants will participate in a tourist itinerary in the municipality of Cacongo, 45 kilometers north of the city of Cabinda, where they will be informed about the potential of Lândana and visit the mangroves at the mouth of the Chiluango River, centenary church São Tiago Maior, among other tourist areas.
“This activity, in addition to the scientific aspect, also aims at the tourist and cultural aspect, to provide knowledge to visitors about the cultural, tourist, economic and social potential of the province of Cabinda. It also serves as an interaction between OAA colleagues from other provinces “.
The event’s organizing committee guarantees that the technical, logistical conditions, means of transport and accommodation for the visitors have been created, with the support of the Provincial Government, so that the conference runs smoothly.
The National Conference of Lawyers is the highest consultative body of the National Council of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA), which takes place every three years, with the aim of studying and debating matters related to the purposes and attributions of the OAA, strengthening and consolidation of advocacy, enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola (CRA), for a good administration of justice and affirmation of citizenship.
