In the communiqué released by the press services of the Presidency, it is said that, with this decision, the Council of Ministers, which was chaired by João Lourenço, “has quickly fulfilled the announcement made by the Head of State less than a week ago, in his investiture speech in Praça da República”.
“The salaries of members of the Armed Forces and the National Police were increased, essentially, by 6%, but there were some higher increases (up to 14%) for cases of staff earning salaries below the National Minimum Wage”.
“The approval today by the Council of Ministers of this measure allows those contemplated to receive from now (if any procedure is delayed, in October) their salaries, already reflecting the increases, plus the retroacts that count from last June”, he adds. the note.
The next step in this context is to “improve the conditions for quartering the troops”, a task to which the new Executive would dedicate itself “in the first days of its entry into operation”.
“It is the next step on the march”, concludes the document.
