The French government, through Total Energi in Angola, has invested, since 2008, US$16 million in the construction, management and operation of four Eiffel schools, in the provinces of Bengo, Cuanza-Norte, Cunene and Malanje.

The data was made public, on Monday (6) in Ndalatando, in the province of Cuanza-Norte, by the representative of Total Energi in Angola, Jorge Fortes, who added that France trained 1,600 young people, of which 130, through these schools. through internal and external scholarships.
Jorge Fortes, who was speaking at the inauguration of the plaque bearing the “Label France Educación” seal, awarded to the local Eiffel Lyceum for its contribution to strengthening education in the region and promoting the French language and culture, suggested the possibility of building two more schools, over the next three years, in the provinces of Huambo and Moxico, with an estimated number of 2,200 students.
He made it known that Total has been operating in Angola since 1960 and that, in the last ten years, it has invested, as part of its social responsibility, more than 100 million US dollars in various projects. Of the amount invested, he referred, around 52 percent was directed to the Education sector.
During the ceremony, the French ambassador to Angola, Daniel Vosgien, considered the strategic partnership between his government and the Angolan State in the field of Education to be exemplary, especially with regard to training young people in the areas of science and technology.
According to the diplomat, the French government will continue to provide scholarships to young Angolans. He added that the awarded seal distinguishes and values public or private schools, which also teach various subjects through the French language, such as Mathematics, Physics and Biology.
Daniel Vosgien was satisfied with the raising of the Angolan flag alongside the French one and the presentation of speeches by students and teachers in French, a fact that, in his opinion, clearly demonstrate the mutual respect that exists between the two nations.
He was proud of the recognition of the high schools in the Eiffel category by the Angolan State and highlighted the pedagogical excellence produced by the curricular model of those schools.
The ambassador said that the aim of creating these pedagogical units in Angola is to increase opportunities for young Angolans, from disadvantaged backgrounds, motivated and committed to achieving quality training, to improve their quality of life.
“The success of the Eiffel network’s high schools is well founded and we can stand out as an exemplary partnership between the Ministry of Education, the French Laic Mission, Total Energi and the French Embassy in Angola,” he said.
In turn, the deputy governor of Kwanza-Norte for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Leonor Garibaldi, representing Governor Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, invited the French ambassador to return to the province, to learn about the potential that the region offers in the field of agriculture, tourism, mining, water, among others.
